Send-off For Golf Team! There will be a send off for the boys golf team on Monday at 3:45 out at Petro Oasis by the interstate. Everyone is encouraged to come out and support them as they head to Lincoln–bring a sign, wave your flag, or simply come to cheer them on.
Boys Golf Team Qualifies For State! Congratulations to the boys golf team for winning the district golf meet held at Indianhead Golf Club on Tuesday, May 14, with a team score of 317. With the win they qualify for the Class C State Meet which will be held on Tuesday-Wednesday, May 21-22, at Highlands Golf Club in Lincoln. Congratulations also to Rylee Reinertson for winning districts with a score of 69, to Ryan Milks for finishing runner-up with a 76, and to Bennett Steele for finishing in 8th place with a score of 82. One to One Initiative Receives Board Approval! The Gibbon Board of Education gave approval to the implementation of a 1 to 1 iPad initiative at its regularly scheduled Board meeting on Monday, May 13th. The plan calls for the purchase of iPads for all students in grades 7-12 for use in the 2013-14 school year, for the purchase of iPads for 6th grade students for use in 2014-15, and for the purchase of iPads for 5th grade students use in 2015-16.

Graduation Live Streamed! Gibbon Public Schools graduation commencement will be held on Saturday, May 11, at 1:00 pm in the high school gymnasium. Friends and relatives who are not able to attend commencement will be able to watch online by following the “Live Stream” link on the gibbonpublic.org website. Streaming will begin ~ 10 minutes prior to the event and will remain available as “rewind-able” for several days following the event. CLICK HERE for live stream.

2013-2014 Athletic Physical Dates! ALL athletes in grades 7-12 are required to have a physical prior to practice next fall. Kearney Clinic is offering free athletic physicals this summer for girls and boys that will be entering grades 8-12. Physicals for girls are Wednesday, July 31, at 5:30 pm and physicals for boys are Thursday, August 1, at 5:30. Seventh graders will not be examined at this time–all 7th graders must get a physical from their primary care provider. In addition, athletes with a medical problem will not be examined on the free physical dates.
Another Opportunity For Physicals: The date for activity screenings provided by Hansen Clinic will be July 16 from 1:30-4:30. These are activity screenings for students in grades 8-12. Seventh grade students will need a complete physical and should schedule for a different date. The cost will be $15. No appointment is necessary. The schedule is as follows: 1:30–12th grader; 2:00–11th grade; 2:30–10th grade; 3:00–9th grade; 3:30–8th grade; 4:00–catch-up time and late arrivers.

Bus Drivers Needed! Gibbon Public Schools is looking for a substitute school bus driver. Proper licensing is needed prior to employment. The district will provide financial assistance for this licensing. This position pays $34.57 per route and $13.81/hour for activity trips.
