Gibbon Apparel On Sale! Need a Christmas gift idea? Orders are being taken for new Gibbon Apparel as a Post Prom Fundraiser. Traditional design t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, and sweatpants may be ordered but also available are “Bling” designs. Apparel will be available for pick-up on Friday, December 20 from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm in the school commons area. District One-Act Play! Congratulations to the Gibbon “Orphan Train” One-Act team for placing 4th at districts yesterday at Ravenna. Outstanding actors were: Libby Allan, Christopher Anderson, Ricardo Ramirez, Alec Smallcomb, Autumn Smith and Cody Spencer. Libby, Ricardo and Autumn received outstanding acting awards at ALL of the competitions this season! Congratulations!
NSAA Moratorium! The NSAA mandatory 5-day moratorium is December 22 – 26. There is to be no athletic practice or workout of any kind at the school during this period. This includes team and individual workouts. Additionally, the floor of the North (elementary) gym will be refinished over the break. Please do not enter the north gym from December 22 - 26.
Children’s Honor Choir! Congratulations to the four Gibbon Elementary students selected to participate in the Children’s Honor Choir at the Nebraska Music Educators Association State Convention in Lincoln. They are 5th graders–Kaitlyn Jurgens, Marcus Smith, Eric Rodriguez, and 4th grader–Alycia Lehn.
Upcoming Athletic Events! On Monday, December 2, the junior high wrestling team will compete in the Amherst Quad at 4:00. On Tuesday, December 3, the junior high girls basketball team will play Kearney Catholic at home at 3:00 pm in the elementary gym. On Thursday the high school basketball teams start their seasons at home against St. Paul. The junior varsity teams play at 4:30, the girls varsity at 6:15, and the boys varsity at approximately 8:15. Also on Thursday the wrestling team kicks off their season at Grand Island Central Catholic at 5:00 and on Friday the wrestlers will compete in the Columbus Lakeview Invite beginning at 4:00. Upcoming Winter Music Programs! The elementary music program will be held Tuesday, December 10. The first performance will be at 1:00 with all K-6th grades performing. That evening at 6:30 grades K-3 will perform and at 7:30 grades 4-6th will perform. The secondary winter music program will be held Monday, December 16th. The band concert will be at 6:30 and the vocal concert will be at 7:30. In addition, the UNO Honor Choir students will be collecting children’s items such as coloring books, crayons, books, puzzles, movies, games, etc. to be taken to the Omaha Children’s Hospital in January. Boxes will be located outside the auditorium at the holiday concerts. Please consider donating! Thank you very much!

New Elementary Music Group! A new group can be heard in the vocal music room this year on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 pm. They are forty 4th-6th graders called “Sinnard’s Sensational Singers!” The group will be performing throughout the year.
